Muriwai Backyard
Muriwai has over 200 households participating in coordinated backyard baiting and trapping. An active volunteer group provide an additional layer of protection on public land, maintaining trap lines around the village and coastline. These projects are vital to protecting some of our unique coastal species including the world renowned gannet colony, little penguin/kororā and Muriwai gecko.
